I picked up some paint colour options from the paint store last weekend once we were home. We will need to paint the exterior as well as all the acres of gyprock inside. The house is already painted white and grey on the front so I plan to just redo it in similar colours. These were the sample cards I picked up:

The interior paint options came in cards of multiple colours. I plan to use the reverse colour scheme inside as to outside. The exterior will be white walls with grey trim, while the inside will feature grey walls with white trim. I also picked up a set of beautiful blues in case we are looking for an accent colour.

We decided on these two for the exterior:

You can see in this photo that there are already similar colours on the front of the house:

The same two colours, First Snow and Grey Granite, are also available in interior colours so we may just use them inside in reverse. The 10 foot ceilings are high enough to support a darker wall colour. It will also show less dirt, especially if the house is used as a rental. Having painted architraves and skirtings boards will enable us to patch and reuse some of the current ones and white will offset the grey nicely.
We were hoping to be able to get some ceilings up next week. However, like so many industries at the moment, COVID is causing major delays in getting materials. We won’t be able to get the gyprock for the ceilings until February now.
But in some positive news, the asbestos inspector finally made it out to the house today. In good news, the linoleum is not asbestos in any places. In bad news, all the walls and ceilings in the added on sections of the house, both in the front and back, are asbestos.

There are some good things about so much being asbestos. I won’t have to worry about the remaining paper mache in the lounge, as it will all go with the walls (hallelujah!). There is a sliding door to the kitchen that we had discussed removing, that will now have to go as the wall around it will get demolished. They will also kindly expose the still baffling stone work behind the bath tub. We are hoping we will be able see that area more clearly, with the aim of being able to get rid of at least some of that wasted space.
So instead of putting up ceilings, we will be getting the suspect areas cleared so the dangerous material can be removed by the professionals. Not quite so interesting but all of it has to be done as some stage. Yay, more tedious little jobs next week…
Check back next week to see what we get up to! Until then, adios!
